**Pune, October 2, 2024:** A tragic helicopter crash occurred this morning at around 7:30 AM near Bawdhan Budruk, Pune, killing three people. The helicopter, which took off from the Oxford Golf Club helipad, crashed just five minutes later.
According to police, the crash was caused by dense fog, which was not anticipated. The helicopter was en route to pick up Sunil Tatkare when it crashed approximately 1.5 kilometers from the helipad. The three victims were identified as two pilots, Capt. Paramjit Ram Singh (64) and Capt. Girish Kumar Pillai (53), and an engineer, Pritam Chand Bhardwaj (56).
Firefighters from Pune and PMRD rushed to the scene. This is not the first helicopter crash in the Bawdhan area, raising concerns about the safety of the airspace. Questions are being raised about the decision to take off despite the heavy fog and whether the pilots were trainees.
An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.
