Pune, Maharashtra: A tragic helicopter crash in Bavdhan, Pune, on Wednesday morning claimed the lives of three people. The incident occurred around 6:45 AM, and the Hingedwadi police have arrived at the scene.
The helicopter, en route to Juhu in Mumbai, was reportedly caught in dense fog, causing difficulties during takeoff. The pilot struggled with the foggy conditions, ultimately leading to the crash.
The deceased have been identified as Girishkumar Pillai, Pritamchand Bharadwaj, and Parmjeet.
The incident comes close on the heels of another helicopter crash in Mulshi, a few days earlier. Luckily, that incident resulted in no fatalities but did leave several people injured.
Following the crash, a team of Pune Police, along with firefighters, rushed to the scene. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vishal Gaikwad, confirmed that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will investigate the incident.
The accident has sparked concerns regarding safety protocols, especially in light of the recent crash in Mulshi. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but the dense fog is suspected to be a major contributing factor.
