**Reading, PA** – The Reading Eagle has announced updated guidelines for submitting obituaries, offering greater flexibility for families while maintaining high standards for accuracy and verification.
The newspaper encourages families to submit obituaries directly through email at **obituaries@readingeagle.com**. Submissions can include the obituary text in a Word document, Google doc, or within the email body. Photos can be attached to the email as well.
**To ensure accuracy and verification, the Reading Eagle requires families to provide either the phone number of the funeral home or cremation service handling the deceased’s care, or a photo of the death certificate.**
Payment for family-submitted obituaries must be made by credit card. The Reading Eagle will send a proof of the completed obituary before payment is required. The obituary will not be published until full payment is received.
Obituaries can be submitted for any future date, but they must be received by **3:00 p.m. the day prior to their intended publication date** to be included in the newspaper.
