Tue Oct 01 00:28:52 UTC 2024: ## India and Kazakhstan Launch Joint Military Exercise KAZIND-2024

**Auli, Uttarakhand, India** – The 8th edition of the India-Kazakhstan joint military exercise, KAZIND-2024, commenced today at the Surya Foreign Training Node in Auli, Uttarakhand. The exercise will run from September 30th to October 13th, 2024, and aims to strengthen counter-terrorism capabilities between the two nations.

The exercise will involve 120 personnel from the Indian Armed Forces, including a battalion of the KUMAON Regiment, along with personnel from the Indian Air Force. The Kazakhstan contingent will be represented mainly by personnel from the Land Forces and Air Borne Assault Troopers.

This year’s KAZIND-2024 will focus on conducting joint operations in a sub-conventional scenario within the framework of Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. The exercise will utilize the semi-urban and mountainous terrain of Auli for tactical drills, which include joint response to a terrorist attack, establishing a joint command post, and conducting intelligence and surveillance operations.

The exercise will also feature special heliborne operations, cordon and search operations, and the deployment of drones and counter-drone systems.

“KAZIND-2024 will provide an opportunity for both sides to share best practices in tactics, techniques, and procedures for conducting joint operations,” said a spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of Defence. “The exercise will also facilitate developing interoperability, bonhomie, and camaraderie between the two armies, enhancing defence cooperation and further strengthening bilateral relations between our two friendly nations.”

The last edition of KAZIND-2023 was held in Otar, Kazakhstan, from October 30th to November 11th, 2023.
