**Mumbai, October 2:** Veteran Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda was accidentally shot in the leg early Tuesday morning while cleaning his licensed revolver. The incident occurred at his residence at 4:45 AM, when the gun discharged as it slipped from his hand.
Govinda was rushed to CritiCare Hospital in Mumbai, where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet. He has since been moved to a regular ward and is expected to be discharged by Wednesday evening. A hospital source confirmed that the actor is recovering well.
The incident occurred just hours before Govinda was scheduled to travel to Kolkata for an event. His wife, Sunita Ahuja, was not present at the time of the incident but has been updated on his condition. Their daughter, Tina Ahuja, is currently at the hospital.
Govinda, a popular 90s star known for his comedic roles and dance skills, made a political comeback in March by joining the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena. He was last seen in the 2019 film, “Rangeela Raja.”
