Tue Oct 01 08:13:53 UTC 2024: ## British Cruiserweight Champion Billam-Smith to Face Mexican Ramirez in Unification Bout

Bournemouth’s WBO cruiserweight champion Chris Billam-Smith will face WBA champion Gilberto Ramirez on November 16th in a highly anticipated unification bout in Saudi Arabia.

Billam-Smith, aiming to emulate British boxing legend David Haye who last unified the cruiserweight titles in 2007, expressed his excitement for the fight, stating: “It’s a big opportunity for me… I’m confident in fighting him, but he brings lots of different attributes.”

Ramirez, a southpaw who has previously held the WBO super-middleweight title, is set for his third fight at cruiserweight after a successful career at higher weights. He holds a stunning 46-1 professional record with 30 knockouts.

The fight, dubbed “Latino Night,” is a co-promotion between Boxxer and Golden Boy Promotions. It will mark Billam-Smith’s first fight in Saudi Arabia, while Ramirez is looking to solidify his claim as the premier cruiserweight in the world.

“I’m excited to make this fight happen,” said Ramirez. “It’s been a long time coming, and I’m looking forward to becoming the unified champion in this division.”

The clash promises to be a thrilling encounter between two of the division’s top fighters, with Billam-Smith’s experience and Ramirez’s power set to make for an exciting contest.
