One of the most sought-after sculptors in the region, Ashish Khot, is creating stunning Devi idols that are captivating with their intricate details, lifelike eyes, and vibrant colors. The legacy of this artistry was inherited from Ashish’s father, Chandrakant Khot, who established Ganesh Kala Mandir 70 years ago. Continuing the family tradition, Ashish’s son Atharva is also contributing his skills to the art form.

The Khot family is supported by a team of dedicated individuals like Bal Krishna Patil, Ajay Janjirkara, Sunny Pulekar, Anuj Masala, and Bal Krishna Masala, who help in the production of the Devi idols. The demand for these exquisite creations extends far beyond Murud, with several orders pouring in from surrounding areas.

The town is preparing for the grand festivities, with 56 public and 8 private Durga Devi installations planned within the Murud police station jurisdiction. Traditional pujas will be performed at each location, celebrating the spirit of the festival. The local markets are already bustling with activity as residents stock up on festive supplies.
