Mon Sep 30 00:22:39 UTC 2024: ## Coffs Harbour Hit by Double Whammy of Traffic Chaos

**COFFS HARBOUR, NSW** – A truck rollover on the Pacific Highway in Coffs Harbour’s CBD caused 14 hours of traffic chaos on Monday, followed by a police car crashing into a hairdressing salon during a pursuit.

The truck carrying 30 tonnes of building materials rolled over at around 1:30 am, causing major delays. The driver, a 23-year-old man, escaped with minor injuries. While the truck was removed quickly, unloading its cargo took much longer.

Less than an hour later, a police pursuit on Ocean Parade ended with a police vehicle crashing into Crimson Hair Studio on Murdoch Street. The pursuit began after an SUV failed to stop for a random breath test.

Two police officers were treated for injuries, one minor. The SUV was later found on fire on Wilton Place. The driver, also 23 years old, was taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital.

The truck crash site, at Park Avenue, is described as a notorious corner on the Pacific Highway, with a history of truck accidents. Coffs Harbour Fire and Rescue station manager Nat La Macchia said, “It’s a bit of a dodgy corner. I’ve been here for 25 years and I cannot count how many times there has been a truck crash on that corner.”

The Pacific Highway has reopened after the truck was removed and the police car incident is under investigation.
