Sun Sep 29 21:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Agartala Rally Demands Indian Intervention in Bangladesh’s Persecution of Hindus

**Agartala, Sept 29:** Over 1,000 individuals, including intellectuals, journalists, teachers, lawyers, doctors, and residents, participated in a large protest rally in Agartala on Friday, demanding action against the ongoing persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh.

The rally, organized by the Forum for Protection of Minorities in Bangladesh, commenced in front of the Agartala Press Club. Forum president and veteran journalist Subal Kumar Dey expressed concern over the deteriorating conditions in Bangladesh, citing increased attacks on Hindu minorities amidst a state of lawlessness.

Senior journalist and President of the Agartala Press Club, Jayanta Bhattacharya, emphasized the forum’s role in uniting professionals to advocate for minority rights. He condemned the violence against minorities, including attacks, vandalism of temples and businesses, and forced conversions, calling it “intolerable.”

The protest will continue, Bhattacharya affirmed, until the atrocities cease. The forum has prepared two memorandums to be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging Indian government intervention. They also intend to reach out to Md. Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Interim Government of Bangladesh.
