**PHOENIX (AZFamily)** – Phoenix has shattered yet another heat record, reaching a blistering 117 degrees today, setting a new high for the latest 117-degree temperature recorded during a calendar year. This surpasses the previous daily high of 108 degrees set in 1992.

This record-breaking heat wave continues, marking the fourth straight day of new high temperatures in the city. Meteorologists predict this streak could extend through next weekend, potentially reaching 10 or 11 consecutive days of record-breaking heat.

While the excessive heat warning for metro Phoenix and western Arizona is set to expire after Tuesday, it may be extended into Wednesday. However, the focus now shifts to the continued intense heat, with Sunday’s high forecast at 113 degrees and Monday’s at 110 degrees.
