Kanpur, India: Ravindra Jadeja reached a significant milestone on Day 4 of the 2nd Test against Bangladesh, becoming only the third Indian to achieve 300 Test wickets and 3000 Test runs. The all-rounder dismissed Khaled Ahmed for a duck in the 75th over, ending Bangladesh’s first innings at 233 runs.
Jadeja, who took 5 wickets in the first Test against Bangladesh last week, was just one scalp away from the coveted milestone. He achieved this feat in his 73rd Test match and 138th innings, making him the second quickest bowler to reach 300 Test wickets after Ravichandran Ashwin.
“It feels amazing to reach this milestone. It’s been a lot of hard work and dedication, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent India,” said Jadeja after the match.
His consistent performance over the years has been instrumental in India’s success in Test cricket. The 35-year-old has taken 300 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 2.47 and scored 3122 runs in his Test career.
Joining the ranks of legendary all-rounders like Kapil Dev, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ian Botham, Shane Warne, and Imran Khan, Jadeja has cemented his place as one of the best all-rounders in the world.
His contribution to India’s recent success in Test cricket has been phenomenal, particularly his performance alongside Ashwin, who together claimed 11 wickets in the 1st Test, leading to a comprehensive 280-run victory.
With this achievement, Jadeja has undoubtedly etched his name in the annals of Indian cricket history. He is set to continue his dominance in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, aiming to further solidify his place among the best all-rounders in the world.
