Sat Sep 28 17:35:00 UTC 2024: ## South Africa Dominates Argentina to Claim Rugby Championship Title

**Mbombela, South Africa:** The Springboks have claimed the Rugby Championship title with a dominant 48-7 victory over Argentina at a jubilant Mbombela Stadium.

The South Africans showcased their attacking prowess, scoring seven tries with impressive backline play. Fullback Aphelele Fassi and flanker Pieter-Steph du Toit each crossed the line twice, while wing Cheslin Kolbe, hooker Malcolm Marx, and centre Jesse Kriel also added tries.

Argentina, on the other hand, struggled to contain the Springbok onslaught. Their only try came from flyhalf Tomas Albornoz. They were further hampered by discipline issues, with yellow cards for Mateo and Santiago Carreras and a 20-minute red card for Pablo Matera.

The match also marked a historic milestone for lock Eben Etzebeth, who became the most capped Springbok with his 128th appearance, surpassing the record held by Victor Matfield.

“I am lost for words. It has been a journey and a half, and to bounce back from last week says a lot about our team,” said Springbok captain Siya Kolisi.

The victory secured South Africa’s fifth Rugby Championship title, their first since 2019. They finished the tournament with 24 points, eight ahead of runners-up New Zealand. Argentina finished third on 14 points.

“Credit to South Africa, they were the better team today,” acknowledged Argentina captain Julian Montoya. “We weren’t good enough. We had to be better.”

The Springboks will now turn their attention to their upcoming tours of Asia and Europe, with the 36-man squad to be announced on October 7.
