**Asheville, NC** – An 89-year-old Italian woman, Giuseppina Bardelli, miraculously survived four nights trapped in a gully after falling 20 feet while foraging for mushrooms in the Italian Alps near the Swiss border.
Bardelli, unable to climb out of the pit, prepared for the worst, reciting her rosary for four nights. She survived on rainwater and kept herself company with her prayers and visits from a fox. Rescue workers eventually located her on August 25th and retrieved her from the gully.
