Arsenal Football Club has announced the passing of former player Fabian Caballero at the age of 46. Caballero joined the Gunners on loan from Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno in 1998 and made three appearances for the first team during the 1998/99 season.

His sole Premier League appearance came as a substitute in a 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough, while he also featured in League Cup and FA Cup matches. Caballero was a regular for Arsenal’s reserve side, scoring eight goals in 16 appearances.

After returning to Paraguay, Caballero played for Dundee in Scotland, featuring in the 2003 Scottish Cup final and being named their Player of the Season the following year. He continued his career with clubs in South Korea, Cyprus, Chile, Greece, Guatemala, and Argentina, before retiring in 2014 after a career spanning 19 years.

Arsenal has expressed their condolences to Caballero’s family and friends.
