Cincinnati’s TQL Stadium has been selected as one of the host venues for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, a prestigious international soccer tournament featuring top clubs from around the globe.
The tournament, scheduled to kick off on June 15, 2025, will see 32 clubs compete for the coveted title, with the final match taking place on July 13 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. While the specific games hosted by TQL Stadium are yet to be announced, the news marks a significant milestone for Cincinnati, making it the only Midwest city among the 11 participating host locations.
The Club World Cup, similar in format to the FIFA World Cup, is divided into continental slots, with each continent allocated a certain number of participating clubs. 30 of the 32 slots have already been filled, with the remaining two slots reserved for the winners of the 2024 MLS Cup in North America and the Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores in South America.
The MLS Cup, to be played on December 7, will determine the final U.S. team to join the Seattle Sounders, the only American club currently qualified for the Club World Cup through their CONCACAF results. The Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores final, scheduled for November 30, will decide the last South American participant.
Cincinnati’s FC Cincinnati, currently competing for the MLS Cup, is among the teams vying for a spot in the prestigious tournament. The Columbus Crew, reigning MLS Cup champions, will also be vying for a chance to participate in the 2025 tournament.
