Sun Sep 29 17:27:00 UTC 2024: ## Tamil Nadu Cabinet Expansion: Udhayanidhi Stalin Sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister, Four Ministers Added

**Chennai, India -** In a significant move, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi on Sunday administered the oath of office to four new cabinet ministers, including the son of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Udhayanidhi Stalin, who was earlier appointed as Deputy Chief Minister. The swearing-in ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan in the presence of Chief Minister Stalin and his son.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, previously the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, will now also oversee the Planning and Development portfolio in his new role as Deputy Chief Minister. His appointment came amidst a major cabinet reshuffle that saw the return of V. Senthil Balaji, who was granted bail by the Supreme Court in a money laundering case. Balaji was appointed as the Minister for Electricity, Prohibition and Excise.

Joining the cabinet were three other DMK legislators: R. Rajendran (Tourism), Govi Chezhiaan (Higher Education), and S.M. Nasar (Minorities Welfare and Non-Resident Tamils Welfare).

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Udhayanidhi acknowledged the criticism surrounding his appointment and pledged to work diligently for the people. “Of course there is criticism, I will try my best to take in all the criticism and work my best for the public,” he stated.

This cabinet expansion marks a significant shift in the Tamil Nadu government, with the addition of new faces and the return of a seasoned politician. It will be interesting to see how these changes impact the state’s political landscape and future development.
