**Phetchaburi, Thailand** – A rare marbled cat, a species listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, has been spotted in Kaeng Krachan National Park, according to park officials. The sighting, which occurred during a routine patrol near the 12-kilometer marker on a park road, highlights the park’s rich biodiversity.
The marbled cat, currently ranked 12th on Thailand’s list of protected wild animals, was observed by park chief Mongkol Chaipakdee and his team. The sighting serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving the Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021.
Mr. Chaipakdee emphasized the need for public cooperation in protecting forests and wildlife. “The presence of this marbled cat underscores the importance of our efforts to protect the park’s natural resources,” he said, urging visitors and the public to play their role in ensuring the continued health of the ecosystem.
