Sat Sep 28 20:58:45 UTC 2024: ## Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Diagnosed with Rare Bacterial Infection
**Chandigarh, Punjab** – Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been diagnosed with Leptospirosis, a rare bacterial infection that can affect vital organs like the lungs and kidneys, and in severe cases, lead to death. The news was confirmed by doctors at the Fortis Hospital in Mohali, Punjab, where Mann was admitted for a “routine health checkup” on Wednesday night.
Despite the diagnosis, doctors assure that Mann’s vitals are “completely stable” and he is responding well to treatment. “The Chief Minister had shown signs of significant improvement in his clinical parameters,” said Dr. RK Jaswal, Director and Head of Department of Cardiology at Fortis Hospital Mohali. “He has also responded well to the treatment for increase in pulmonary artery pressure. At present, all vitals of the Chief Minister are completely stable.”
Mann’s admission to the hospital initially raised concerns about his heart health after tests revealed increased pressure in his pulmonary artery, leading to irregular blood pressure. However, further tests confirmed the Leptospirosis diagnosis. The Chief Minister has already been placed on antibiotics and his clinical features and pathological tests are showing positive improvement.
Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection spread through contact with contaminated water or soil. Symptoms can include fever, headache, muscle aches, and vomiting. The disease can be treated with antibiotics, and early detection is crucial for a favorable outcome.
The Chief Minister’s Office has issued statements assuring the public of Mann’s well-being and his recovery. The public remains concerned, but optimistic about the Chief Minister’s prompt diagnosis and treatment.
