Sat Sep 28 22:58:49 UTC 2024: ## Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Diagnosed with Leptospirosis, Condition Stable

**Chandigarh, September 28, 2024:** Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been diagnosed with leptospirosis, a bacterial infection, after being admitted to Fortis Hospital, Mohali for a routine check-up on Wednesday. The 50-year-old AAP leader’s condition is stable, according to a health bulletin released by the hospital.

Mann was initially admitted for suspected tropical fever, and subsequent blood tests confirmed the leptospirosis diagnosis. He has been placed on appropriate antibiotics and is showing significant improvement in his clinical parameters, including a decrease in pulmonary artery pressure.

Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that affects both humans and animals, primarily through contact with infected animal urine. The bacteria can enter the body through cuts, abrasions, or mucous membranes.

Dr. R.K. Jaswal, Director and Head of Department of Cardiology at Fortis Hospital, stated that Mann has responded well to treatment for the increased pulmonary artery pressure, which had previously led to irregular blood pressure.

The Chief Minister is expected to remain under observation at the hospital, while continuing his antibiotic treatment.
