**Mohali, Punjab:** Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been diagnosed with leptospirosis, a bacterial infection, and is currently receiving treatment at Fortis Hospital in Mohali. The Chief Minister was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday for a routine check-up, but doctors discovered elevated pulmonary artery pressure and a suspected case of tropical fever.

Further tests confirmed a positive blood test for leptospirosis, a zoonotic disease commonly spread through contact with infected animal urine.

Despite the diagnosis, Mann’s vital signs are reported to be stable, and he is responding well to antibiotic treatment. Doctors at Fortis Hospital have also conducted additional cardiac tests to monitor his condition.

Leptospirosis can be a serious illness, but with prompt medical attention, patients typically make a full recovery. The Chief Minister is expected to remain under observation and continue receiving treatment as he recovers.

Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection that can cause a range of symptoms, including fever, headache, muscle aches, and jaundice. The World Health Organization estimates that there are over 1 million cases of leptospirosis each year, with the disease being particularly prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions.
