Sun Sep 29 01:59:25 UTC 2024: ## Rising Mumbai Cricketer Musheer Khan Narrowly Escapes Injury in Expressway Accident

**Lucknow, India:** Young Mumbai batsman Musheer Khan, known for his prolific right-hand batting, had a close call on Friday morning when the SUV he was traveling in with his father and coach, Naushad Khan, overturned on the Purvanchal Expressway. The accident occurred while the pair were en route from Azamgarh to Lucknow, where Musheer was set to join his Mumbai team for the Irani Cup tie against Rest of India, starting October 1.

According to authorities, the SUV was traveling at approximately 110 km/h when it veered off the expressway and overturned after the driver applied brakes. Musheer sustained neck pain and was rushed to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow. While initial reports indicated the injury was minor, the hospital is conducting scans to confirm if there’s a fracture in his neck region.

Medanta Hospital Director Dr. Rakesh Kapoor confirmed Musheer’s condition is stable and out of danger. “His neck pain is not a cause for major concern, and he is being treated effectively,” said Dr. Kapoor. The treatment plan includes medication and physiotherapy to reduce pain and aid in his recovery.

Musheer’s injury has raised concerns about his participation in the upcoming Irani Cup. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) secretary, Abhay Hadap, stated that they will assess Musheer’s medical fitness before deciding on his participation. The MCA is also considering calling up Musheer’s elder brother, Sarfaraz Khan, who is currently with the Indian Test squad in Kanpur.

The accident comes almost two years after Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant’s car crash in December 2022. Musheer, a promising young cricketer, was returning from training in Azamgarh with his father. He had recently scored a century in the Duleep Trophy and was eager to join his Mumbai team. The 19-year-old had a stellar Ranji Trophy season, including a maiden first-class double century and a century in the final against Vidarbha.

While Musheer’s injury has raised concerns, the medical team is optimistic about his recovery. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and MCA medical teams are closely monitoring his progress. With proper care and treatment, Musheer is expected to make a full recovery.
