**Chennai, September 29, 2024:** Young Mumbai cricketer Musheer Khan is recovering in a Lucknow hospital after a car accident earlier this week. The 19-year-old, brother of India batter Sarfaraz Khan, sustained neck injuries in the accident and is expected to be out of action for several months.
Khan, who was travelling from Azamgarh to Lucknow to join the Mumbai squad for the Irani Cup, was involved in the accident on September 27th. The Medanta hospital in Lucknow confirmed that he was admitted with neck pain but is now out of danger.
“First of all, I want to thank almighty Allah for granting me a new life,” said Khan in a video posted on Instagram. “I’m fine as of now, and my father was with me, and he’s fine too. I just want to thank all of you for your blessings.”
The Mumbai Cricket Association released a statement confirming Khan’s condition and stating that he is under close observation. “Musheer has sustained a fracture in the neck region,” the statement read.
Khan’s injury comes as a blow to the Mumbai team, as he is expected to miss the upcoming Ranji Trophy season which begins on October 11th.
His father, Naushad Khan, expressed gratitude for the support and prayers received. “I also want to thank the MCA and the BCCI who are taking full care of Musheer, and they will give you whatever updates there are in the future,” he said.
