**Lucknow, India -** Mumbai cricketer Musheer Khan, younger brother of Indian international Sarafaraz Khan, is in stable condition after a road accident on the Purvanchal Expressway on Saturday. The incident occurred while Musheer, along with his father Naushad Khan, were travelling to Lucknow for the upcoming Irani Cup. Their car hit a divider and overturned, injuring both.
Musheer sustained a neck fracture while his father suffered minor scratches. Both were immediately admitted to the Medanta Hospital, where they are receiving treatment under the supervision of Dr. Dharmendra Singh, Director of the Department of Orthopedics.
“Musheer Khan was brought to the emergency department of Medanta Hospital due to pain in his neck,” said Dr. Singh. “His treatment is being conducted under our supervision. His condition is stable and he is out of danger.”
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has confirmed that their medical team is closely monitoring Musheer’s progress. The 19-year-old will be flown to Mumbai for further evaluation once he is medically fit to travel.
“He has sustained a fracture in the neck region and is under close observation,” said the MCA in a statement. “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and MCA medical teams are closely monitoring his progress. Once Musheer is deemed medically fit for travel, he will be flown to Mumbai for further evaluation and additional medical treatment. The timeline for his recovery will be determined following these assessments.”
The unfortunate accident has ruled Musheer out for at least three months, causing him to miss the upcoming Irani Cup, which begins on October 1. Musheer had started his domestic season strongly with a century for India B in the Duleep Trophy and had also made valuable contributions to Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy victory earlier this year.
