Young Mumbai cricketer Musheer Khan, who was involved in a serious car accident on his way to the Irani Cup, is recovering from his injuries, along with his father Naushad.
The accident, which occurred on the outskirts of Lucknow, left Musheer with a neck fracture. Both he and his father have expressed their gratitude for the prayers and support received from fans and well-wishers.
In a video shared by Musheer’s brother, Sarfaraz Khan, on Instagram, Naushad thanked the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their support during this difficult time. He also emphasized the importance of gratitude and patience during their recovery.
“We are grateful to the Almighty for giving us a new life. Thanks to everyone who prayed for us, our well-wishers, fans, and relatives. We are thankful to the MCA and BCCI for taking care of Musheer. We will provide updates on the future, but for now, we need to be grateful for what we have,” said Naushad.
Musheer, who is currently recovering from the accident, stated, “I want to thank the Almighty for a new life. I am fine for now, and my dad is also doing well. Thank you for your prayers.”
Due to the nature of his injury, Musheer will miss the upcoming Irani Cup and Ranji Trophy matches. His recovery is expected to take some time.
The incident is a setback for the talented batsman, who has had a remarkable start to his first-class career. This includes scoring three centuries and a half-century in nine first-class matches. His recent performance in the Duleep Trophy, where he scored an impressive 181 against a strong India A bowling attack, further solidified his potential.
The MCA is yet to announce a replacement for Musheer in the Irani squad, which is led by Ajinkya Rahane.
