**Chennai, India** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has condemned the appointment of Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, as the state’s Deputy Chief Minister. The party labelled the move as a blatant example of dynasty politics and questioned Udhayanidhi’s suitability for the position, citing his lack of experience and past controversial remarks.
“Udhayanidhi Stalin does not have enough maturity to become the Deputy Chief Minister,” said Tamil Nadu BJP Vice President Narayanan Thirupathi. He pointed to Udhayanidhi’s previous comments calling for the eradication of “Sanatan Dharma” as evidence of his unsuitability for the position.
The BJP also expressed concern over the appointment of V Senthil Balaji, who was recently released on bail in a money laundering case, as a minister in the state government. BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari claimed that Udhayanidhi’s only merit is his lineage, and that the DMK is prioritizing family interests over the needs of the people.
“This is the parivarvad (nepotism) which PM Modi speaks about,” Bhandari said. “The youth of India is watching… On one hand, the PM spoke on the Red Fort and gave a call that 1000 youngsters without any experience or family background in politics should enter politics to serve the country. On the other hand, you have the INDI alliance which is only focusing on looting.”
The BJP’s criticism comes as Udhayanidhi Stalin is officially elevated to the post of Deputy Chief Minister alongside the appointment of four new ministers. The Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan release stated that Chief Minister MK Stalin has recommended the appointment of Udhayanidhi Stalin as Deputy Chief Minister with additional responsibilities in planning and development.
The swearing-in ceremony for the new ministers is scheduled to take place later today.
