Sun Sep 29 13:27:18 UTC 2024: ## Archer Returns to Form, Bowling Australia Captain Marsh in Crucial ODI Victory

**Lord’s, England:** Jofra Archer delivered a timely reminder of his immense talent on Friday, dismissing Australia captain Mitchell Marsh in England’s crushing 186-run victory in the fourth ODI. The win levelled the series at 2-2, setting up a thrilling decider on Sunday.

Archer’s return to form was evident from the outset, with his third over the quickest he has bowled since September 2020. Reaching a top speed of 92.9 mph, he bowled with the pace and accuracy that has made him a fearsome force in world cricket.

The dismissal of Marsh was a highlight. Archer’s near-perfect delivery, full and probing, moved away slightly to beat the bat and crash into the off stump, leaving the Australian captain bewildered.

“I’ve been back to this rhythm for a little while now,” said Archer, who has battled a series of injuries since 2019. “I felt it in the World Cup and I’ve just been taking it series by series.”

Archer’s recent comeback has seen him feature in the T20 World Cup in June and all eight matches for Southern Brave in The Hundred. He has also played in four of England’s six completed white-ball matches against Australia.

While he may miss the series decider in Bristol to allow for a meticulously-planned return to Test cricket and a potential Ashes appearance in Australia in 2025/26, Archer’s performance at Lord’s has provided a significant boost for England.

“I wanted to play a summer, and then I want to play a year, and then I want to play a few years,” said Archer. “So everything is going to plan.”

With a white-ball tour of the West Indies scheduled for November, Archer will look to build on his promising form, setting his sights on a return to the Test team and the Ashes in the future.
