**Chennai, September 27, 2023:** Former Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case and subsequently imprisoned for 471 days, was granted bail by the Supreme Court on September 26th.

Balaji, who was arrested in June 2022, had repeatedly been denied bail by lower courts. The Supreme Court granted him bail subject to stringent conditions, including a requirement to appear before the ED office twice a week and a warning that the bail could be revoked if he attempts to influence witnesses or obstruct the investigation.

Following his release from prison, Balaji presented himself at the ED office in Nungambakkam today, accompanied by heavy police security. He provided statements and signed necessary documents in front of investigating officers.

Balaji’s release comes as a significant development in the ongoing case, with his supporters celebrating his freedom. The ED continues its investigation into the alleged money laundering charges against Balaji, and the legal proceedings are expected to continue.
