**CHARLOTTE, NC – September 26, 2024** – Truist Foundation announced today a $500,000 donation to support relief and recovery efforts in communities impacted by Hurricane Helene, which is expected to make landfall in the Florida panhandle as the strongest storm of this hurricane season.
The funds will be distributed to three organizations:
* **The American Red Cross** and **World Central Kitchen** will receive support for immediate relief efforts, focusing on providing access to food, shelter, and medical services.
* **The Center for Disaster Philanthropy’s Atlantic Hurricane Season Fund** will receive funds for long-term recovery efforts, addressing needs such as rebuilding homes, providing mental health and legal services, and other urgent challenges.
“Our hearts go out to our teammates, clients, and communities in the path of Hurricane Helene,” said Lynette Bell, president of Truist Foundation. “The importance of Truist’s purpose to inspire and build better lives and communities is never clearer than when disaster strikes. Truist Foundation is dedicated to ensuring communities have the critical resources needed to prepare, respond and restore as quickly as possible.”
This donation adds to Truist Foundation’s earlier commitment to disaster relief. Earlier this year, the foundation donated $1 million to the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program to provide immediate assistance to communities impacted by events like Hurricane Helene.
