Thu Sep 26 13:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Peachtree Corners Embraces the Future with Free Autonomous Rides

**Peachtree Corners, GA (October 5, 2023) -** The Georgia town of Peachtree Corners is taking a bold step towards becoming a “smart city” by launching a free autonomous ride service on October 7th. The service, powered by May Mobility and utilizing a modified Toyota Sienna minivan, will offer rides to residents within a designated area.

The robotaxi will initially operate with a human attendant for safety and to ensure a smooth launch. However, May Mobility plans to eventually offer fully driverless rides.

The service will operate between pre-selected locations, including hotels, shops, restaurants, city hall, and Curiosity Lab – a tech hub spearheading the initiative. Rides will be available between 8am and 4pm weekdays and can be booked through the May Mobility app.

The robotaxi utilizes T-Mobile’s 5G network for connectivity, allowing passengers access to Wi-Fi and enabling live camera feeds for monitoring from a fleet command center. Curiosity Lab envisions a future where passengers can even enjoy VR gaming during their rides.

May Mobility’s robotaxi uses a sophisticated AI system that analyzes and predicts thousands of potential outcomes per second to ensure the safest route. While the vehicle is equipped with both exterior and interior cameras for safety and regulatory compliance, the company emphasizes that facial recognition technology is not used, and data is stored for only five days, with faces and license plates blurred for privacy.

Peachtree Corners joins other cities like Ann Arbor, Detroit, Arlington, Grand Rapids, Sun City, Miami, and Martinez where May Mobility has already deployed its autonomous vehicles. The launch in Peachtree Corners marks a significant step in the growing adoption of autonomous vehicles and highlights the city’s commitment to embracing innovative technology.
