New York City’s skyline is about to get a whole lot more exciting with the launch of the “Skylift” at Top of the Rock. This new attraction, opening on October 1st, will offer guests a unique and thrilling experience as they soar nearly 900 feet above street level on a revolving, open-air platform.

The Skylift, built on the 70th floor of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, rises three stories taller than the topmost floor of the building. As the platform rotates, guests will enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the city, creating the sensation of floating among skyscrapers.

Designed to complement Rock Center’s classic art deco architecture, the platform features marble-like tiers and 96 LED pixel flutes that cast a magical light show across the skyline, day or night. These lights can be customized to commemorate special dates and holidays.

While the temptation to capture the breathtaking view on your phone might be strong, tickets starting at $35 include a video of each guest at the pinnacle of the ride.

The new attraction has already sparked some playful rivalry between New York’s iconic skyscrapers. In response to the Skylift announcement, the Empire State Building tweeted, “Imagine paying to be turned into a rotisserie chicken.”

This playful banter is sure to entertain New Yorkers and tourists alike, adding a touch of humor to the city’s already vibrant skyline.
