The upcoming Prime Video series “Spider-Noir,” starring Nicolas Cage as the titular hero, has added another name to its impressive cast. Karen Rodriguez, known for her roles in shows like “Swarm” and “Acapulco,” has joined the production in a series regular role. While details about her character are being kept under wraps, her addition to the ensemble cast adds another layer of intrigue to the project.
The series, set in 1933 New York City, follows Ben Reilly (Cage) as a private investigator who stumbles upon a web of corruption. Reilly’s investigation into the death of Edward Addison leads him to uncover a sinister plot involving the Mayor, crime boss Silvermane, and femme fatale Yuri Watanabe.
Brendan Gleeson is rumored to be playing Silvermane, while Li Jun Li is set to portray Wraith. The series is expected to feature other iconic Spider-Man villains, including the Sandman.
“Spider-Noir” is penned and executive produced by Oren Uziel, known for his work on films like “22 Jump Street” and “The Lost City.” The series is also being executive produced by “Into the Spider-Verse” duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, along with former Sony boss Amy Pascal.
While Cage did not reprise his role as Noir for the recent animated sequel “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” he is expected to return for the final film in the trilogy, “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.”
“Spider-Noir,” a noir-themed take on the classic Spider-Man story, is a highly anticipated project that promises to be a unique and compelling addition to the Spider-Verse. Fans will be eager to see how Rodriguez fits into this gritty and exciting new world.
