**Mumbai, India (September 26, 2024):** Heavy rains in Mumbai have caused widespread flooding, disrupting transportation and leading to the death of a 45-year-old woman. The woman, identified as Vimal Anil Gaikwad, drowned in an overflowing nullah near Andheri East on Wednesday evening.
Following the incident, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has ordered a high-level inquiry into the woman’s death and formed a committee to investigate the matter.

In response to the heavy rainfall, the BMC has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in Thane, Palghar, Pune, and Pimpri-Chinchwad on Thursday.
