Fri Sep 27 16:25:30 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Faces Corruption Charges: Lokayukta Files FIR

**Mysuru, Karnataka:** A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his wife, and others in a case involving alleged irregularities in land allotments by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). This comes after a Special Court in Bengaluru ordered a Lokayukta police investigation into the case, upholding the Governor’s sanction for the probe.

The Special Court directed the Lokayukta police to investigate under section 156(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and submit their report by December 24th. The court also listed several charges against the accused, including criminal conspiracy, public servant disobeying law, dishonest misappropriation of property, and forgery.

The investigation stems from allegations that Siddaramaiah’s wife, BM Parvathi, was illegally allotted 14 sites by MUDA. The High Court had earlier upheld the Governor’s sanction for an investigation into these allegations.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has dismissed the charges as politically motivated, stating that they are part of a larger effort by the BJP-JDS alliance and the Governor to harass him and his government. He asserted that these attempts would not deter him from implementing his pro-poor guarantee programs.

The Lokayukta police will now begin their investigation into the MUDA site allotment case. The outcome of this investigation could have significant political repercussions for Siddaramaiah and his government.
