Thu Sep 26 12:30:24 UTC 2024: ## MotoGP 2025 Calendar Unveiled: India Postponed, Brno Returns, Hungary Joins the Race
Dorna Sports, the commercial rights holder of MotoGP, has released the 2025 calendar, featuring a record 22 rounds, including the return of Brno and the debut of a new race in Hungary. Notably, India has been postponed to 2026 due to delays in securing a promoter and upgrading the Buddh International Circuit.
Dorna’s chief sporting officer, Carlos Ezpeleta, emphasized the importance of the Indian market and confirmed their commitment to the country. “India is a hugely important market for MotoGP,” he stated, explaining the postponement was necessary to ensure the event meets their standards.
While the calendar boasts several new additions, concerns remain regarding the readiness of Brno. Despite its inclusion, the circuit must undergo resurfacing and other upgrades before the scheduled July date. “It hasn’t been resurfaced yet,” Ezpeleta said, “it is part of our conditions to return.”
The Balaton Park circuit in Hungary, meanwhile, marks the culmination of a 15-year agreement between Dorna and the Hungarian government. While the venue is ready, Ezpeleta acknowledged that significant modifications are needed for the track to meet MotoGP requirements.
Other notable events on the 2025 calendar include the return of Argentina after this year’s cancellation and the shift of Portugal’s Portimao round to the penultimate slot. However, despite plans for a Kazakhstan Grand Prix in previous years, the event is not currently on the schedule.
With the release of the 2025 calendar, MotoGP fans can look forward to a season packed with exciting races and new destinations.
