Thu Sep 26 14:52:04 UTC 2024: ## U.S. and India Join Forces to Build First Fully Integrated Battery Recycling Facility

**FISHERS, Ind., Sept. 26, 2024** – A landmark agreement between American Resources Corporation (NASDAQ: AREC) and India’s leading sustainable critical minerals producer, LOHUM Cleantech Ltd, will establish the United States’ first fully integrated battery recycling and repurposing facility.

The joint venture, which will be located at the Marion Advanced Technology Center in Indiana, will be operated by ReElement Technologies Corporation and American Metals LLC, both subsidiaries of American Resources Corporation. The $30 million project is expected to create 250 green jobs and initially supply over 315,000 electric vehicles annually, with potential for future expansion.

The facility will handle the entire lifecycle of battery and critical minerals, from cell testing and repurposing for second-life energy storage to recycling, refining, and production of battery-grade materials with purities exceeding 99.5%. This closed-loop system will create a domestic ecosystem of recycled, high-purity lithium, supporting the growth of North America’s lithium-based battery manufacturing supply chain.

“This joint venture will be instrumental in building resilient critical material supply chains in the U.S. that can sustain themselves through circularity,” said Rajat Verma, Founder & CEO of LOHUM. “This is an inspiring development in U.S.-India technology collaboration through market entities.”

Mark Jensen, Chairman of American Metals and ReElement Technologies, highlighted the synergy between the companies: “We have been working with LOHUM to leverage our unique capabilities and world-leading technologies at ReElement, combined with LOHUM’s innovative and scaled-up approach to critical minerals’ recycling and refining.”

The new facility will significantly reduce the environmental impact, capital expenditure, and operational costs associated with conventional battery material separation and purification processes. This groundbreaking partnership positions the US to become a global leader in sustainable battery production, driving innovation and economic growth while addressing the urgent need for responsible resource management.
