**London, UK** – Leica has announced a new version of its popular Q3 digital compact camera, the Q3 43. This new model features an all-new APO-Summicron 43mm f/2 ASPH lens, a departure from the Q3’s 28mm wide-angle lens. It also sports a stylish gray leather exterior, complementing the black metal top and bottom plates.
The Q3 43 retains the same 60.4MP full-frame sensor as its predecessor, allowing for digital crop modes that emulate focal lengths from 43mm to 150mm. Other key features remain unchanged, including a 5.76m-dot OLED viewfinder, a tilt-touchscreen, and Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connectivity for image uploads and remote control.
However, the price tag is slightly higher, with the Q3 43 listed at $6,895 / £5,900 (about AU$12,000) compared to the Q3’s $6,295 / £5,550 / $10,890.
**A Camera for Those Who Prefer a Longer Lens**
While the Q3’s 28mm lens offers excellent versatility, many photographers prefer standard-to-telephoto focal lengths. The Q3 43 addresses this demand with its specially developed 43mm lens, offering a more natural perspective for portraiture and everyday photography.
This concept is similar to the Ricoh GR IIIx, which also features a longer lens than its predecessor. The Q3 43 is expected to appeal to a wide range of users who seek a premium compact camera with a more versatile focal length.
**Expect a Comprehensive Review Soon**
TechRadar will be publishing a full review of the Leica Q3 43 shortly, providing in-depth analysis of its performance and features. This new camera promises to be a superb everyday option for photographers who prefer a longer focal length and appreciate the high quality and craftsmanship of Leica products.
