**New Delhi, India** – Kartik Research, a New Delhi-based artisanal fashion brand known for its human-centric approach to clothing, has teamed up with iconic British heritage label Baracuta to reimagine its timeless styles.
The collaboration, which launches on September 27th, features a six-piece collection that blends Baracuta’s classic Harrington jackets with traditional Indian craftsmanship. Kartik Kumra, founder of Kartik Research, explains, “We wanted to make these iconic jackets our own, and Baracuta gave us the freedom to do just that.”
The collection includes Baracuta’s signature G9 and G4 Harrington jackets, alongside a cotton shirt, pleated trousers, and a raw-edged hoodie, all elevated by ancient Indian handicrafts. Godhadi artisans in Gujarat hand-quilted jackets, weavers in Himachal crafted tartan checks, and Zardozi artisans in Uttar Pradesh added intricate hand embroidery, showcasing the disappearing artistry that defines Kartik Research.
The collection’s highlight is the G4 Harrington jacket, transformed into a striking patchwork quilt with Kantha embroidery detailing. Kumra collaborated with a women-owned cooperative in Maharashtra to create the colorful quilted fabric, handmade and hand-stitched. “We wanted to capture the vibrant spirit of Delhi,” says Kumra, who shot the collection outside his grandmother’s house with friends from school, evoking a personal touch.
Fresh from his Paris Fashion Week debut, Kumra continues to weave his personal narrative of India into his designs, showcasing the beauty of his homeland through artisanal collaborations and modern reinterpretations of classic styles.
