The 22-year-old Mendis achieved this feat during the second Test match against New Zealand, scoring an unbeaten 182 runs. He made his Test debut in July 2022 against Australia, scoring a half-century in his first innings. However, it was his return to the Sri Lankan team in 2024 that saw him explode with prolific runs.
