Thu Sep 26 14:14:23 UTC 2024: ## UFC Champ Sterling Defends His “Moderate” Drinking During Training Camp

Former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has sparked controversy by revealing he enjoys up to three alcoholic drinks after intense training days. Despite criticism from some fans, Sterling insists his method is effective and that he maintains a “moderate” approach.

“If I have a great sparring day, then I’m gonna treat myself in the middle of the camp,” Sterling told former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson. “I’m gonna have one to three drinks, I’m gonna knock out early, and I wake up feeling like I’m ready to go again. I feel fresh.”

Sterling, known as “Funk Master,” has also released his own rum brand, Funk Harbor, and insists on the importance of knowing one’s own limits: “I think it’s time people stop listening to the taboo myths about drinking and training camp,” he said on social media. “Everything in moderation, and knowing yourself and what is okay for you.”

While Sterling’s approach has drawn criticism, it’s important to note that his success at the highest level of MMA speaks for itself. However, his recent withdrawal from the UFC 307 event in Salt Lake City due to an undisclosed injury raises questions about the potential impact of his drinking habits.

It remains to be seen when the 35-year-old Sterling will return to the Octagon and whether his unconventional training methods will continue to be a subject of debate.
