Thu Sep 26 13:31:27 UTC 2024: ## Wear OS 5 Update for Pixel Watch Faces Glitches, Apple Watch Gains Sleep Apnea Detection
**Google’s new Wear OS 5 update for the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 has been met with some hiccups.** Users have reported encountering a blank display with a Bluetooth disconnected icon after installing the update. Fortunately, a quick reboot or hard reset often resolves the issue. For more stubborn problems, a more complex FastBoot reset is recommended. Google is expected to release a fix soon.
**Despite these initial bugs, Wear OS 5 offers several improvements, including:**
* A new grid-based app launcher
* Enhanced watch faces with more customization options
* Improved running metrics with data on ground contact time, stride length, and more
**Meanwhile, Apple Watch users are celebrating the arrival of sleep apnea detection.** This feature, made possible by the new Breathing Disturbances metric, leverages the Apple Watch’s accelerometer to track movement throughout the night. After analyzing data for 30 days, the Watch will alert users if it detects signs of moderate to severe sleep apnea.
**The sleep apnea feature is now available on Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 with the latest watchOS 11 update.** The Apple Watch Series 10 will receive the feature upon its launch this Friday.
**Other new features in watchOS 11 include:**
* Increased customization for Activity Rings
* Overnight vitals tracking
* Training load tracking
**Both iOS 18 and watchOS 11 updates are expected to roll out today, likely at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET.** Apple will also release iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and visionOS 2.
