**MILAN** – Interior designer and HGTV personality Leanne Ford has traded the hustle and bustle of California for a more tranquil life in her hometown of Pittsburgh, and she’s sharing her journey in her new book, “The Slow Down.”

Ford, known for her DIY expertise showcased on HGTV’s “Restored by the Fords” and “Home Again With the Fords,” moved back to Pittsburgh four years ago, seeking a better quality of life for her family. The move was a conscious decision to prioritize family, creativity, and a slower pace of life.

“My quality of life went through the roof. Simple living, safety, having space and time to breathe and be a family and be creative. All things I didn’t realize were missing from my life in the big cities,” Ford told WWD.

Ford’s new book delves into the renovation of her mid-century modern home in Sewickley Heights, Pennsylvania, and her philosophy on creating a home that fosters joy and connection. The book is filled with inspiring images of her thoughtfully designed home, which blends vintage finds with modern touches.

“I love mixing genres, but usually always keeping a color story keeps things easy breezy when designing. I’d define my style as warm and easy,” Ford said.

“The Slow Down” is more than just a design book; it’s a guide to creating a life where “quality of life is so much more important than having more stuff.” Ford encourages readers to embrace simplicity, prioritize experiences over material possessions, and make time for the things that truly matter.

“Say no to good so you can say yes to great,” she advises. “Your time is your most valuable asset, so make sure you don’t waste it in a rat race you don’t even care to win.”

“The Slow Down,” published by Abrams, will be available on shelves Tuesday.
