Thu Sep 26 12:08:03 UTC 2024: ## Trump Mocked for Claiming Ukraine Has No Chance Against Russia

Former President Donald Trump drew criticism from military experts for his comments suggesting Ukraine has no chance against Russia in the ongoing war. Speaking at a rally in Georgia, Trump said the embattled nation was doomed because Russia had previously defeated Hitler and Napoleon, implying a military superiority that experts say is far from reality.

“Biden says, ‘We will not leave until we win,’” Trump said, mocking President Biden’s support for Ukraine. “What happens if they win? That’s what they do, is they fight wars. As somebody told me the other day, they beat Hitler, they beat Napoleon. That’s what they do. They fight, and it’s not pleasant.”

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, a former National Security Council official who testified in the Trump-Ukraine scandal, expressed shock at Trump’s understanding of military history. “I mean, just the other day somebody told him about World War II?” Vindman told CNN. “It is embarrassing that a former president would say, even use that kind of language, that he just learned about World War II.”

Vindman emphasized that the Soviet Union’s victory in World War II was heavily reliant on Western support, and the current conflict in Ukraine is far from a straightforward victory for Russia. He added that the West is already pouring significant resources into Ukraine, but it may not be enough to prevent a Russian advance.

Trump’s comments highlight a growing concern among experts that the former president’s rhetoric may be fueling pro-Russian sentiment and undermining international efforts to support Ukraine.
