**New York, NY** – Artificial intelligence company Runway is making a significant investment in the future of filmmaking with the launch of the Hundred Film Fund. The fund, which has a potential to grow to $10 million, will provide grants ranging from $5,000 to over $1 million to filmmakers using AI to tell their stories.

Runway, known for its innovative AI tools for filmmakers, believes that traditional funding models often overlook creative projects that leverage emerging technologies. “We believe that the best stories are yet to be told,” the company states, “and we want to ensure that the next era of media will be shaped in close collaboration with artists and storytellers.”

The Hundred Film Fund is open to a wide range of film formats, including features, shorts, documentaries, experimental projects, music videos, and more. To be eligible, projects must already be underway and utilizing Runway’s AI tools. Grant recipients will also need to demonstrate a need for additional funding to complete their projects.

The fund is overseen by an advisory panel composed of industry leaders including Jane Rosenthal (Tribeca Festival founder), Christina Lee Storm (Governor of TV Academy’s Emerging Media Programming Peer Group), Stefan Sonnenfeld (Company 3 founder), will.i.am (Black-Eyed Peas), and Richard Kerris (NVIDIA VP).

Runway’s commitment to supporting AI filmmaking is evident in its recent partnership with Lionsgate, which will explore the use of AI for pre-visualization and storyboarding. The Hundred Film Fund further cements their dedication to fostering innovation and pushing the boundaries of cinematic storytelling.

The company saw an overwhelming response to its first AI Film Festival in 2023, receiving over 3,000 submissions for its 2024 edition. This indicates a growing interest in AI-powered filmmaking, and Runway’s Hundred Film Fund is poised to play a pivotal role in nurturing this emerging landscape.
