Thu Sep 26 13:00:00 UTC 2024: ## New Boss Causes Friction on “9-1-1” as Captain Bobby Steps Aside

**Los Angeles, CA -** The highly anticipated season premiere of ABC’s “9-1-1” has arrived, bringing with it a new challenge for the 118 team: a new captain. After Captain Bobby Nash stepped down in the season 7 finale, Captain Vincent Gerrard has taken his place, much to the chagrin of the 118 team, particularly Buck.

Showrunner Tim Minear revealed that while Bobby is eager to return, Gerrard was appointed before he fully recovered from his heart attack. The show will explore the dynamic between the team and their new leader, with Buck facing the most significant adjustment. As the only captain he’s ever known, Bobby is a father figure to Buck, making the transition even more challenging.

“I think it’s harder for Buck than the rest,” said Minear. “He’s got a lot of adjusting to do.”

The tension is further amplified by Hen’s quest to regain her foster license and Chimney’s commitment to caring for his daughter with Maddie. Both are forced to maintain good standing with Gerrard to navigate their personal lives.

Meanwhile, Bobby’s unexpected departure has landed him a technical advisor role on a fictional firefighter TV show, “Hotshots,” where he finds the premise “completely trivial and ridiculous.”

While Bobby is away, the 118 will face a bee-nado, which is, as Minear humorously stated, “just wanted to generate some buzz.”

With the introduction of a new captain and a swarm of killer bees, “9-1-1” season 8 promises a season filled with drama, suspense, and plenty of action. Don’t miss the premiere tonight at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
