Wed Sep 25 01:07:15 UTC 2024: ## Zelensky Calls for “Force” Against Russia, Rejects Negotiations at UN Security Council

**UNITED NATIONS** – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the UN Security Council on Tuesday, calling for decisive action to “force” Russia into submission and end the conflict. He rejected any possibility of negotiations, stating that the conflict “can’t be calmed by talks” and will not “simply fade away.”

Zelensky argued that Russia, as the “sole aggressor” and “violator of the UN Charter,” must be “forced into peace.” While he did not specify what actions he had in mind, he reiterated his “peace formula,” now rebranded as a “victory plan,” and called for a second peace summit involving China, Brazil, the United States, and others.

He dismissed the possibility of meaningful dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying, “What could they possibly hear from him?”

Russia’s ambassador to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, criticized the meeting as a “staged one-man show” organized by Ukraine’s Western backers. He accused the meeting of being solely aimed at providing Zelensky with a “concert venue” to criticize Russia.

Zelensky, in an interview with ABC News earlier Tuesday, further clarified that his “peace” plan is not contingent on negotiations with Russia. Instead, he stated that it focuses on strengthening Ukraine’s military capabilities, asserting that “only in a strong position can we push Putin to stop the war.”

Responding to Zelensky’s claims, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Ukraine must accept the current reality on the ground. He stated that Moscow will only end its military operation after achieving all of its goals “one way or another.”
