Wed Sep 25 18:54:53 UTC 2024: ## Former Juventus Goalkeeper Szczesny Considers Barcelona Offer Following Ter Stegen’s Injury

Barcelona are in talks with former Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to potentially bring him out of retirement and fill the void left by the injured Marc-André ter Stegen. Ter Stegen suffered a season-ending knee injury during Barcelona’s 5-1 victory over Villarreal on Sunday.

Szczesny, 34, left Juventus at the end of last season and announced his retirement from professional football after the European Championship. However, he has indicated he is open to considering a move to Barcelona given the club’s dire situation.

“I have a lot of respect for Barça’s history,” Szczesny told Diario Sport. “They are one of the best clubs in the world and I understand the difficult situation they are in after the injury to Ter Stegen. I think it would be disrespectful to not consider the option [of signing].”

Barcelona are looking for a short-term solution until the end of the season to compete with backup keeper Iñaki Peña. The Spanish club is allowed to sign a free agent due to the severity of Ter Stegen’s injury, despite the transfer window being closed.

Szczesny’s experience in the Premier League and Serie A makes him an attractive option for Barcelona as they seek to maintain their league lead.
