Wed Sep 25 04:01:00 UTC 2024: ## Gen Z United on Water Pollution: New Report Highlights Concerns Across Political Divide

**WASHINGTON, D.C.** – A new report from the Walton Family Foundation and Gallup reveals that water pollution and the health of oceans are top concerns for Generation Z, regardless of political affiliation. The study, “Climate Spotlight: Gen Z on Water Issues,” found that a majority of voting-age Gen Zers, including both Republicans and Democrats, worry about these issues.

The report highlights a stark contrast between Gen Z’s concerns and their outlook on the future: while a majority believes clean water will be available in the future, nearly one-third express concern about water scarcity. Partisan differences emerged with Democrats more likely than Republicans to voice worry about a future water crisis.

“The health of fish and oceans is a greater concern to Gen Z than the availability of clean drinking water,” the report states. This is especially true among Republicans, who are more worried about the health of marine life than the availability of clean water.

These anxieties are further compounded by concerns about climate change: 12% of Gen Zers worry “a great deal” about having to relocate due to climate change, and 24% report “some” worry. This fear is linked to water-related concerns, as 73% of Gen Zers worry about pollution, flooding, or drought when considering their future community.

While Republicans are less likely than Democrats to worry about relocation, a significant portion still express worry, reflecting a shared concern about climate change’s impact on their future.

The study underscores the importance of addressing water pollution and protecting our oceans to address the concerns of Generation Z and ensure a sustainable future for all.
