Wed Sep 25 07:58:15 UTC 2024: ## Zelensky Hints at Potential End to War, Outlines Plan for Victory

**New York, NY** – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed cautious optimism about the war with Russia, suggesting it could end sooner than anticipated. In an interview with ABC News, Zelensky stated, “I think that we are closer to peace than we think. We just have to be very strong, very strong.”

Zelensky will be presenting a plan for victory to US President Joe Biden this week, which he described as a “bridge to a diplomatic way out, to stop the war.” This plan, he emphasized, is not about negotiating with Russia but rather strengthening the Ukrainian army to secure a decisive victory.

However, he acknowledged that achieving this victory hinges on a “strong position” for Ukraine, which requires the support of its allies, particularly in terms of supplying long-range missiles. Zelensky reiterated his long-standing request for the US to lift restrictions on these weapons, arguing that “Everybody’s looking up to [Biden], and we need this to defend ourselves.”

While President Biden has yet to make a decision on this request, Zelensky emphasized the need for US leadership in the matter.

The Kremlin, meanwhile, has expressed caution regarding the Ukrainian plan, stating that the conflict will only end when Russia achieves its goals.

Zelensky’s trip to the US includes a speech at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, and meetings with both US presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
