Srinagar, September 25 (KNB) – Voting for the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections commenced today at 7 AM. Over 2.5 million voters are eligible to cast their ballots across 26 constituencies spread across three districts in the Kashmir Valley: Ganderbal, Srinagar, and Budgam, and three districts in the Jammu region: Reasi, Rajouri, and Poonch.

This phase sees a fierce contest with 239 candidates vying for seats. Notable contenders include former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is seeking re-election, JKPCC president Tariq Hamid Karra, and BJP J&K chief Ravinder Raina.

With heightened tensions in the region, authorities have implemented stringent security measures to ensure a peaceful voting process. Election officials are appealing to citizens to participate actively in the democratic process. The polling will conclude at 6 PM today.
