**New Delhi, September 24, 2024:** Star Indian batters Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been included in the probables list for the upcoming Ranji Trophy, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) announced today. This marks Kohli’s first appearance in the tournament since 2012 and Pant’s return after a four-year hiatus.
The announcement came after a Senior Men’s Selection Committee meeting, chaired by Gursharan Singh. The committee has also included several other promising players like Ayush Badoni, Anuj Rawat, Yash Dhull, and Navdeep Saini in the probables list.
While Kohli and Pant’s inclusion has generated excitement, their participation in the tournament remains uncertain. Both players are currently part of the Indian Test squad and are scheduled to play the three-match series against New Zealand, starting October 16.
However, even if the duo doesn’t feature in the Ranji Trophy, their inclusion provides a valuable opportunity for them to prepare for the upcoming Test series. The Ranji Trophy, starting on October 11, could serve as a valuable warm-up for Kohli and Pant, allowing them to regain match fitness and rhythm.
The DDCA will conduct a fitness test for the selected players on September 26, with the venue details to be communicated by the team manager.
Delhi will face Chattisgarth in their opening Ranji Trophy match on October 11.
